The DPRK’s election system is the most advantageous system of election that is progressive and democratic.

“To elect on the principle of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot is the most progressive and democratic system of election demanded earnestly by all the people.”
Election system plays an important role in defining the character of state power. Ruling organ dominating and controlling the people may be established or the people’s power where the people become masters may be built according to the systems of election.
Election system must be the progressive and democratic one suited to the popular masses’ aspiration and demands in order to enable them to select their true representatives and exercise sovereignty in line with their demands.

The progressive and democratic election system can only be the election system that allows the broad working masses to participate in election and is formulated to make their will to be fully displayed in exercising the sovereignty.
The law on electing deputy of the people’s assembly at levels in the DPRK stipulates that all citizens over 17 years old have the rights to elect and to be elected according to the general principle of election irrespective of sex, nationality, occupation, residential duration, property, party affiliation, political views and religious belief. The DPRK grants all citizens the rights to elect and to be elected by law, and accordingly all of them participate as one in election with high sense of honor and pride of being the DPRK citizens, thus further consolidating the people’s power.
In the capitalist countries, many working masses are excluded from the election due to such restrictions as sex, age, property status, the standards of education, and residential duration. So their elections are only for a handful of privileged people.
All the citizens in the DPRK participate in the election expressing their will freely.
The DPRK’s election system enables the voters to fully express their will also in nominating and voting the candidates for deputies to the people’s assembly at all levels.
In the DPRK, it is stipulated that the citizens vote in the way of direct election with only one ballot and put the ballot into a ballot box after expressing their will with own hands. The citizens on an official or a private travel can participate in the election in the relevant regions. Persons in dotage or inconvenience take part in the election by voting in the mobile ballot box so as to fully express their will.
The voter’s free expression of will is guaranteed also by a secret ballot based on the direct election in the DPRK. According to the DPRK’s law on election, no one is allowed to go in and out the polling station except the voters. All ballots are standardized and suffrage is by secret ballot to ensure the secret of the suffrage.
Through such ways of election, the DPRK people’s will is freely expressed in exercising sovereignty and this makes the DPRK power organ become the genuine people’s representative organ making activities in accordance with the people’s will and demand.
The DPRK provides thorough correctness and objectivity in the election.
If system of election is to be the progressive and democratic one, correctness and objectivity must be ensured.
All the election procedures such as selecting candidates, voting, confirming and broadcasting suffrage are made in the DPRK on the correct and object principle.
The whole region in the DPRK is divided into certain constituencies, and the sub-constituencies are established under one constituency to meet the voters’ conveniences. Each constituency has one deputy candidate and election committees work out the voters’ lists to make public beforehand, thus ensuring thoroughgoing fairness and equality in exercising sovereignty. Sub-constituencies are established in the regions with fewer citizens, hospitals, sanatoriums and the major railway stations in order to make all citizens participate in the election and vote under all geographical and other conditions. The result of election is correctly broadcast and the election is undergone correctly without any mistake in order to ensure truthfulness in the election.
There are no such people in the world as the Korean people who materialize their will and desire to their hearts’ contents under the superior system of election.
