The 3rd Plenary Meeting of the 7th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea held in Pyongyang on April 20, 2018 put forward a new strategic line at the present stage in which the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea was successfully put on the position of the world-level politico-ideological and military power, to concentrate all efforts of the whole party and country on the socialist economic construction.
The immediate goal of the struggle for realizing the new strategic line is to keep production going at full capacity at all industrial establis
The long-term goal is to put the national economy on a Juche, modern, IT and scientific basis and provide all the people with affluent and highly civilized life so that they can live as well as others.
The Workers’ Party of Korea put forward the tasks for thoroughly carrying out the new strategic line. First of all, it is important to prioritize economic work in the overall work of the party and the state and tap all the human, material and technical potentials of the country for economic development. Next, it is necessary to thoroughly rely on science and technology, steadily improve the self-development spirit and effect production surge and leap under the unfurled slogan of self-reliance and self-sufficiency in all the fields and units.
Presented by the WPK at the meeting were the ways for thoroughly carrying out the new strategic line. To do so, it is necessary to drastically enhance the role of party organizations to bring about substantial successes in economy. And the economic guidance organs including the Cabinet should meticulously organize the operation and command for making rapid economic progress and all the fields and units should unconditionally subordinate to the unified command of the Cabinet for implanting the economic policy of the Party.
The new strategic line of the WPK is the scientific revolutionary line reflecting new requirements of the developing Korean revolution and desire of the people under prevailing situation. The new strategic line of the WPK serves as the realistic one whose implementation is possible as there are the popular masses possessed of inexhaustible creative strength, camp of scientists and technicians trained by the WPK and the solid foundation of self-supporting economy remaining unchanged in any adversity.
Holding aloft the militant slogan “Let us further accelerate the advance of our revolution by concentrating all our efforts on socialist economic construction!” and full of confidence and optimism, the people in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea dynamically wage the revolutionary general offensive, a grand march of economic construction.
