Kim Il Sung declared with pride the founding of the Korean People’s Army, the genuine armed force of the Korean people on February 8, 1948.
The founding of the KPA was a historic event of radical significance in accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche. Thanks to the founding of the Juche-oriented regular army that inherited traditions of the anti-Japanese revolution, military guarantee was laid to firmly safeguard sovereignty of the country and to realize the great cause of Mt Paektu with success.

Although it was two years old, the KPA defeated the imperialist allied forces and won glorious victory in the Fatherland Liberation War that could be said to be a confrontation between rifle and atomic bomb.
The heroic KPA that has developed into an invincible regular armed force under the wise leadership of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il is now in heyday of its development as it has the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un at the top post of the armed forces of the Korean revolution.
