Genealogy of Wangs and Royal Seal Which Had Been on Verge of Disappearance

One early morning in May, 1992 President Kim Il Sung looked round historic relics and remains in Kaesong City. He also visited King Wang Kon's Mausoleum which is situated away from the city.

Looking at the mausoleum which was but the shadow of its former self, the President told officials that Wang Kon’s mausoleum should be rebuilt in a proper way as King Wang had founded a unified country, the first in the Korean history. He gave detailed solutions to every problem in its reconstruction.

The moving news that the President took measures to value the history of Korea’s first unified country spread soon through the city.

So much impressed by the news, descendants of the Wangs stayed up several nights shedding tears of gratitude. Then they decided to present the genealogy of the Wangs and royal seal, the heirloom kept for generations, to President Kim Il Sung.

The descendants of the Wangs have kept genealogy and royal seal since the collapse of the Koryo dynasty.

Looking at the genealogy and royal seal, Kim Il Sung told the officials to treasure them adding that such a thing uncommon happens in the country as it is in the good years.

The genealogy of the Wangs and the royal seal, which had been on the verge of disappearance with passage of years, could become widely known to the people thanks to patriotic measures of the great President. This story is conveyed to posterity as a legend in the era of the Workers’ Party.
