    Songun is the revolutionary and patriotic line and the method of politics that solves all problems in the revolution and construction on the principle of giving precedence to military affair and that pushes ahead the cause of socialism with the People’s Army as the pillar of the revolution and by depending on it.

    The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un said.

    “As the situation got more serious, our Party raised the banner of Songun even higher and maintained its stand and principles more firmly on the strength of arms. In this way it led our revolution confidently along the road of victory.”

    Songun has come not from the bitter historical lessons or the present peculiar circumstances, of the Korean nation. It is the universal patriotic weapon that contains even the lessons of bloody history of the patriotic struggle of many countries and nations in the world.

    One day in October 1973 when the world was all afire with the critical situation in Chile, leader Kim Jong Il told about the historical lesson of Allende.

    The lesson drawn from Allende is that even a good new government will collapse if it doesn’t bring the army under its control. The most fatal mistake he made was that he thought there will be no trouble if the army keeps neutral instead of dabbling in the politics. The lesson drawn from Allende is also that one will ruin if he is not free from the illusions about US imperialism. He had not the slightest idea that the Americans should attack his legitimate government. His thought ruined him.

    Leader Kim Jong Il said that no country can achieve independence and sovereignty if it fails to take hold of its army as far as imperialism remains on the globe.

    His saying has the truth that country is defended by force of arms and the force of arms guarantee patriotism for freedom, independence and national prosperity.

    From ancient times people say that man who is deprived of his country is more miserable than a dog of the family in mourning. The primary in patriotism is to defend one’s country. Without the country, personal pleasure, national sovereignty and dignity, happiness of the present and the future are inconceivable. Only with the country, can there be individual life and national prosperity and development.

    Defending the country is the greatest patriotism and so the only treasured sword for national defence is the best sword of patriotism.

    Songun is, indeed, the treasured sword of patriotism that ensures the bright future of the country and nation glorified with independence and prosperous with creation.
