Among memorable pictures that show noble traits of Kim Il Sung who always found himself among the people, there is a picture he took when he visited the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex one day in November 1971.
Kim Il Sung holds a child in his arms with a broad smile and the child puts on jogori with rainbow-striped sleeves and red chima and laughs a sweet laugh. This impressive picture tells the great father’s love moving the people still now.
One morning of late autumn when it was chilly because of sleet, Kim Il Sung gave a field guidance to the Kim Jong Thae Electric Locomotive Complex.
As he loved the children and regarded them as the king of the country, Kim Il Sung visited a nursery and kindergarten of the complex instead of its production site as soon as he arrived at the complex.
Looking at wall pictures on the nursery walls showing the ways of taking care of the children’s nutrition and health, Kim Il Sung asked whether all the children were brought up as healthy as a child in picture. When he dropped in at a sunny room for suckling babies, Kim Il Sung said that it would be better for them to put on blankets than quilts. Kim Il Sung thought for a while and told to supply blankets with flowery pattern to the babies.
Kim Il Sung entered the children’s sleeping room and threw a careful look at their double-deck beds to examine whether they caused discomfort to the children. And then Kim Il Sung went to the indoor playground. The children hung on Kim Il Sung’s sleeves at random, but Kim Il Sung did not put blame upon them but embraced them in his bosom, saying that he is pleased most when he is with the children.
Lifting a child in his arms, Kim Il Sung asked his name, age and the job of his father. Kim Il Sung noticed a young girl who was jumping up and down wishing that Kim Il Sung would hold her. So Kim Il Sung held the girl in his arms.
The girl was so happy that she hugged Kim Il Sung’s neck closely and pressed her red cheek against Kim Il Sung’s. And then the girl turned her face towards her friends and smiled sweetly at them.
As she was five years old, the girl was inexperienced in the world. But she was well aware that Kim Il Sung took benevolent care of the children by providing them with clothes every season and meat soup at every meal. That is why she was filled with joy so much.
