President Kim Il Sung is the distinguished leader who illuminated the ways of shaping independently the destiny of the people in many countries.
The President illuminated the road ahead of the developing countries and rendered selfless support to them when the countries faced difficulties in the building of a new society.
A government delegation from Burkina Faso visited the DPRK in October 1972.
Busy as he was with the state affairs, the President received the delegation and gave valuable instructions to them.
Welcoming its visit to the DPRK, the President said that small countries should ac
Listening to the President, members of the delegation were gripped by noble emotion.
Burkina Faso located in the western part of Africa had been a colony for a long period and gained independence in 1960 through the arduous struggle and began to build a new society.
However, it was not easy to do it. Though it was rich in natural resources, Burkina Faso had poor industrial foundations due to the colonial rule of foreign aggressors.
Members of the delegation looked up with deep emotion to the President who judged their actual condition and gave teachings to them. Explaining them the independent standpoint adhered to by the Workers’ Party of Korea, the President said that the WPK embodies the Juche idea in all fields of the revolution and construction with it as the guideline, that is, it thoroughly implements the line of independence, self-sufficiency and self-defence in all fields of the revolution and construction.
They kept his teachings deep in minds.
In fact, Burkina Faso endeavoured to safeguard independence in the building of a new society but failed to put an end to subordination relations with its suzerain state in the field of economy.
It had mapped out new 5-year plan for economic development and began to implement it, but almost necessary funds were invested from outside.
Acquainting himself with such situation, the President said that it is imperative to increase the country’s economic strength and explained them that the people in economically underdeveloped countries naturally have the idea of flunkeyism towards developed countries and they would think that everything theirs are bad and the others’ are better than theirs and, in the long run, blindly follow big counties, if they worship and depend on big countries.
The President said that mutual assistance between friends and persons in need is beside the question but, if they go to big countries help, the countries will inevitably raise preconditions and will make them under their economic control and the former cannot have the right to speak.
Members of the delegation bore serious faces. The President’s saying gave a big impact on them who had placed their hope on the West.
Telling that the DPRK was building an independent national economy and laying solid material and technical foundations for agriculture, the President said that it is the expression of lack of independence to ask for help without developing agriculture in one’s own country.
The President told them details of water pumps manufactured in the DPRK. He said with deep emotion that, at first, they suffered from mental sufferings as it was not easy but succeeded in manufacturing large water pumps with determination and, as a result, materialized irrigation of the country by themselves with those water pumps.
The President continued that, if small countries help each other in unity, they will find it possible to develop without aids from big countries. He said that the imperialists seem to give assistance to newly independent countries, but their aim is to subordinate them politically, economically and militarily with the assistance as bait.
The head of delegation was so excited that he told the President.
“Independence, indeed, is our life and soul. The only way out for us is to defend independence. We return with this valuable key Your Excellency gave us.”
Members of the delegation kept in mind the truth that political independence can be ac
Not only Burkina Faso but many other countries including Guinea were taught by the President. They came to know that the key to the building of a new society is to defend independence.
President Kim Il Sung is, indeed, a peerlessly great person who provided basis for fair international relations and led the 20th century along the road of independence, with the banner of independence.
