President Kim Il Sung, admired as a great saint of the century, had an emotional meeting with Novichenko in Novosibirsk during his long journey to foreign countries.
Novichenko was an internationalist who defended the President at the risk of his life right after the liberation of the country.

After parting with Novichenko in Novosibirsk, the President told to send a gift to him in the name of the President and make a film with him as a hero.
Even during his stay in Moscow, he saw that the title of Labor Hero of the DPRK was awarded to Novichenko.

He invited Novichenko and his family to Pyongyang soon after he finished the visit to foreign countries.
The President who met Novichenko on the way of his field guidance to a remote area presented him a golden watch bearing his august name appreciating him as a brave hero who covered a hand grenade with his body.
