A Russian newspaper carried an article entitled “Prominent General” in 2003 on the occasion of the anniversary of Kim Jong Il’s election as the Chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK.

Noting that Chairman Kim Jong Il, bearing the destiny of the DPRK, destroyed the enemy’s machinations on the strength of unique mode of politics, the article continued as follows.

The DPRK has emerged victorious in the showdown with the US without a single gunfire. All the people throughout the world praised the military strength of the DPRK countering the hard-line policy of the US with a harder-line one, and the resolution and indomitable will of the leader of the DPRK.
