Women in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea have the rights on equal term with men in the filed of politics and their socio-political rights and position are secured by law thoroughgoingly.
The state draws women into positive socio-political activities and grants them a right to elect and be elected on equal term with men on the principle of increasing the proportion of women deputy to the people’s assembly at all levels. The proportion of woman deputy in the election of deputies to the 13th Supreme People’s Assembly held in 2014 was 16.3%.
Women in the DPRK have the rights on equal term with men to acquire, change and preserve citizenship and their nationalities do not change when they get married or divorced. Every woman can work in the state organs and be selected, trained and allocated as a cadre without distinction through the planned cadre training and assignment by organs, enterprises and organizations.
In dealing and managing the cases related to women, the judicial organs respect women’s personality and fully ensure their rights and interests.
Women in the DPRK are provided with the rights to appeal and petition by the law and the organs, enterprises and organizations that received their appeal and petition grasp and manage them responsibly within the fixed date. Act of not to receive woman’s appeal and petition and that of ignore are legally prohibited.
