In the DPRK the Workers’ Party of Korea is called the motherly Party because it is the popular Party that loves the people boundlessly, serves them devotedly and solves everything in line with their interests by relying on their strength.

“At present, all our people are calling the Party their mother and linking their fate to it.”
The WPK is the motherly Party that defends and applies most thoroughly the people’s desire and will.
It regards their desire and will as the starting point of its line and policy.
The Party’s line and policy is the strategy and tactics that guarantees the successful advance of the revolution and construction. Only when the Party’s line and policy is correctly drawn up, the revolutionary struggle and construction work can be done successfully. Whether the strategy and tactics of the revolution are drawn up on the basis of the people’s will and desire or not is a very important matter related to the popular character of working-class party.
The WPK ensures that every line and policy reflects the people’s aspiration and desire.
It set forth the policy to enforce all democratic reforms including the agrarian reform which reflects the peasants’ long-cherished desire for land. It also set forth the policy of agricultural cooperativization and the main line of the socialist economic construction to give priority to the development of heavy industry while developing light industry and agriculture simultaneously in reflection of the people’s will and demand.
All the lines and policies of the WPK reflect the people’s desire and aspiration.
The WPK also ensures it is carried out by their high revolutionary zeal and creativity.
That Korean-style socialism can advance along the road of victory even under the difficult condition that imperialists continue isolation, suffocation and economic blockade is attributed to the seasoned leadership of the Party that solves all problems by believing in the people’s strength and mobilizing them.
Since the first day of its foundation up to now, the WPK has worked out lines and policies for the people and carried them through without any vacillation and hesitation. This is the clear manifestation of traits of the great WPK as the motherly party that devotedly serves the people.
The WPK is the great motherly Party that takes responsible care of the people’s destiny and provides with happiness.
Features befitting a motherly party are concentratedly expressed in taking responsible care of the people’s political, material and cultural life. Earnest desire of mother who devotes everything for her children is to make them lead a worthwhile life socio-politically, materially and culturally. If a working-class party that is responsible for people’s destiny is to be a motherly party, it should provide the people with valuable political integrity, lead them in a responsible manner to add luster to it, pay deep attention to their material and cultural life and take warm care of them all the time. If so, the people regard the party as their mother, entirely entrust their destiny to the party and share weal and woe with it. Only then, it can really be a motherly party.
Political integrity is most valuable for a social man. His destiny is inconceivable without it. Providing, protecting and glorifying political integrity is the most fundamental feature of a motherly party which values and loves the people.
The WPK provides the people with precious political integrity and leads them to add luster to it and thus gives them the most valuable life that nobody has never done. All people in the DPRK belong to the Party organization and other political organizations led by the Party, leading a political life. This clearly shows that the Party is entirely responsible for the socio-political integrity of the people.
The WPK also provides the Korean people with affluent and civilized life, thus making them the blessed people.
The WPK which regards it as the supreme principle of its activities to constantly improve the people’s standards of living takes epochal measures to ensure that the people enjoy a happy life without worry about food, clothing and housing, receiving medical treatment and educating their children. Its warm care and solicitude for the happy life of the Korean people go to every corner of the people’s livelihood. It also takes affectionate measures to build more parks, pleasure grounds, holiday homes and sanatoria in the scenic places for their cultural and sentimental life and for their relaxation and good health.
Today the DPRK enforces the universal free compulsory education system, the universal free medical care system and many other public welfare policies for the people and builds monumental edifices which guarantee the lasting happiness of the Korean people. This is attributable to the warm love and care of the WPK. Indeed the WPK is the bosom of eternal life that all the people will entirely entrust to and the bosom of great love that defends their destiny and provides them with happiness.
The WPK is the motherly Party that leads officials to fulfill their duty as befitting the true servants for the people.
The Party’s leadership is realized by officials and activities of the Party serving the people are also ensured by them. Therefore, if a working-class party is to be a true motherly party, officials should be possessed of popular traits and faithfully serve the people.
Since the first day of its foundation the WPK has considered it as one of the fundamental matters of party-building to improve the working method and style of the Party and paid deep attention to it.
The WPK directs big efforts to overcoming among the officials the abuse of the Party authority and bureaucracy which is a main obstacle to correcting their working method and style.
Abuse of party authority and bureaucracy is a poison and main obstacle divorcing the Party from the masses. Under the slogan “Let the whole Party go among the masses!” it sees that all the Party officials go among the masses to learn from them and arouse their revolutionary zeal and creative activeness.
Today the Korean people feel benevolent motherly love in the traits and style of the Party officials and entirely entrust their destiny to the Party, treating the Party organization like their mother who is visited first either when they are happy or when they are sorrowful and following the Party officials.
The WPK will be loyal to its sacred mission as the motherly Party that is responsible for the people’s destiny in any adversities and lead the people to certainly build on their land a thriving socialist country which the world looks up to.
