In the DPRK, housewives make Kimchi with sincerity from the middle of November and offer it to their neighbours so that they can have a taste of it, which is an unusual scene.
However, those of some villages offered their Kimchi to their neighbours and enjoyed it in January 2025, that is, the belated Kimchi-making month.
The villages were newly built for the people, who suffered flood damage at the end of July 2024, thanks to the benevolence of the Workers’ Party of Korea.
Licenses of using new dwelling houses were provided to the flood victims free of charge. They were moved much when they opened doors of their dwelling houses and saw TV sets and other furnishings in the rooms and basic foodstuffs and daily necessities in kitchen and washroom. Housewives were moved to tears when seeing jars filled with Kimchi at their houses.
True to noble intention of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who concerns whether the flood victims would find any slight inconveniences, officials in relevant counties and their family members prepared Kimchi for every household. As a result, unusual scene of offering Kimchi to each other was unfolded belatedly.
