“In order to build an independent national economy, it is essential to adhere to the principle of self-reliance in economic construction.”
Self-reliance is the revolutionary spirit and principle of struggle of the revolutionaries in carrying out the revolution by their own initiative.
Self-reliance is the motive force in building a powerful independent national economy and the invariable mode of struggle in the socialist economic construction.
Only when the principle of self-reliance is adhered to in economic construction, is it possible to develop economy on one’s own initiative and at the high speed by enlisting the strength of one’s own strength and resources, funds and technology and achieve prosperity of the country by braving sorts of difficulties.
One is bound to be under the economic control of the other country in case one does not rely on one’s own efforts but tries to build economy with the help of the other’s aid.
Those, who struggle strenuously with confidence in their own capability, will be able to do anything difficult. But those, who have no faith in their own strength but expect other’s help, will not do anything successfully.
The smaller and more underdeveloped a country may be, the more complicated its situation may be and the more difficulties it may have, the fuller play it should give to the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance.
