The great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung, the founder of the Juche idea, achieved the national independence and defeated the US imperialists and their allied forces in the 1950-1953 war, with the Juche idea as a guiding principle. He also led to victory the postwar rehabilitation and reconstruction and made the beginning of socialist construction in the DPRK and developed all fields including the economy, politics and military affairs independently, thus building a complete independent, sovereign state.

The course of political and ideological growth of Comrade Kim Il Sung, the eternal President of the DPRK, can be divided into two aspects basically.

Followings are the first aspect:

He was born into a patriotic and revolutionary family fighting against the rule of the Japanese imperialists and participated in revolutionary activities in his teens.

At the meeting of forming the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU), he put forward the DIU action programme on the basis of analyzing and reviewing experiences and lessons gained in the anti-Japanese struggle and set it as the immediate goal of the DIU to defeat the Japanese imperialism and as its ultimate aim to build socialism and communism in Korea.

With organizations of youth and students grown under the DIU guidance, he reorganized it into the Anti-Imperialist Youth League and formed the Young Communist League of Korea (YCLK), the vanguard organization to lead youth masses.

In 1930, he formed the Society for Rallying Comrades, the first communist party organization and the root of the party, and founded the Korean Revolutionary Army to launch a struggle for liberation.

Following is the second aspect:

Since his childhood, he read such novels as “Mother” written by Maxim Gorki, historic books and autobiographies related to the October Revolution in Russia, such theoretical books as “Basis of Socialism” and usually books of Marxism-Leninism.

Comrade Kim Il Sung was arrested by the Chinese reactionary police in the end of 1929 and imprisoned until the first half of 1930. In the prison, he analyzed and reviewed experiences gained in the struggle for national liberation and socialism and made a following conclusion.

The conclusion is that revolution can emerge victorious only when it is carried out on one’s own responsibility and by the efforts of one’s own people, and that one should solve all problems arising in the revolution independently and creatively.

Such view of Comrade Kim Il Sung was reasonable. The Juche idea authored by him explains that man is the master of everything and decides everything, and in other words, the popular masses are masters and the motive force of the revolution and construction.

The Juche idea served as a powerful weapon in the revolution and the building of a new society. Thanks to the Juche idea, the DPRK people could have powerful weapon useful for the revolution and construction and uphold with dignity the banner of a sovereign and independent state in the international arena. Indeed, the founding of the DPRK heralded advent of new independent people, and was the solemn birth of Juche Korea.

Thanks to President Kim Il Sung who said that the revolutionary line of independence, self-sufficiency and self-defence should be applied in all fields of state activity with the Juche idea as the guideline, the DPRK has become a dignified socialist country that has solid independent national economy, excellent national culture and powerful national defence capabilities.

The government of the Republic put forward the line of building an independent national economy and implemented revolutionary principle of self-reliance, thus building an independent national economy that runs with its resources, technology and cadres, is developed in comprehensive way and equipped with up-to-date science and technology.

Today the DPRK’s economy provides everything needed for the building of socialism and people’s living and develops at a high speed without being undaunted by any worldwide economic upheavals.

Convinced that the national sovereignty cannot be maintained, revolutionary gains and people’s security cannot be defended without self-defence capabilities, the government of the Republic developed the self-defence capabilities capable of guaranteeing security and eternity of a completely independent country.

The DPRK has strengthened the regular revolutionary armed forces and consolidated national defence capabilities systematically since sovereignty was achieved and socialist Korea was founded. As a result, it could safeguard with honour independence of the country and gains of the revolution in the 3-year Fatherland Liberation War against the US imperialist aggressors and in the struggle against constant threat and aggression of the US imperialism.

By implementing the revolutionary line of independence, self-sufficiency and self-reliant defence in all fields of the revolution and construction, the DPRK was turned into a powerful socialist country independent in politics, self-sufficient in the economy and self-reliant in national defence.

It is necessary to remember Comrade Kim Il Sung, the eternal President of the DPRK and study his remarkable exploits performed in the founding and development of the Juche idea, in the practice of the liberation struggle and in the building of a socialist society.
