    Located in Jongbang-ri in Sariwon City, North Hwanghae Province, Mt. Jongbang is a scenic spot famous from long ago as for its natural beauties and lots of historic and cultural relics.

    The mountain is 481 meters high. It has been called Mt. Jongbang(meaning a square) as its physical aspect is edged and the ridges of the mountain are linked forming a square.

    President Kim Il Sung said.

    “Nature in our country is very beautiful and bountiful.”

    Scenery of Mt. Jongbang is superbly beautiful in all seasons.

    Spectacular is the scenery of the mountain in blooming spring. Apricot and pear blossoms on the mountain that probably covers the whole mountain make a peculiar scenery that keeps brightness even after the sunset.

    Scenery of Mt. Jongbang is more wonderful in fresh green summer.

    High trees like oak, maple, maackia amurensis and birch with the leafy pine trees as the main, and shrubs like magnolia, azalea and royal azalea give off fresh perfume.

    Mt. Jongbang in autumn when every plant turns red and yellow and in winter when snow sceneries are beautiful and fascinating leads the people to a fairyland.

    Mt. Jongbang forms a peculiar scenery with the skyscraping peaks and diverse rocks of fantastic shape.

    Turtle Brothers Peak which is said that they were fascinated by the beautiful scenery of Mt. Jongbang to settle as the rock, Crocodile Rock whose name comes from its shape like a crocodile climbing Kwanum Peak to enjoy the scenery of the mountain with his projected-eyed head stretched up to the sky, Myongyong Rock where it is said that fairies flied up after dressing themselves. Chonyo(girl) and Chonggak(boy) Rocks, Camel Rock and Sungrithap conveying the patriotic spirit of ancestors…

    It is a remarkably superb view of Mt. Jongbang that one can enjoy scenic spots without going far away from one valley.

    Mt. Jongbang is well-known as it has lots of historic and cultural relics.

    Typical are the Jongbangsan Castle and the Songbul Temple built in the period of Koryo. They are proud of wisdom and talent of the Korean nation adding beauty to the landscape of famous mountain.

    Mt. Jongbang is, indeed, a scenic spot with picturesque sceneries.

    Mt. Jongbang that has beautiful scenery and lots of cultural relics is associated with the affection of the great leaders Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il who were to make all treasure on their land as that of the people.

    President Kim Il Sung visited Mt. Jongbang on several occasions to choose the places for resting, public service amenities and sports and cultural amusement centers while making his way through the rugged path, and sent them the trees he cultivated on his garden.

    True to the President’s plan, leader Kim Jong Il visited the mountain without having rest in holiday and told to build the angling site, touring track and Jongbang Tea House, etc. suitable to the scenic beauty of nature so as to make the people enjoy rest to their hearts’ content.

    Mt. Jongbang has now been better as the people’s scenic spot boasting of its unparalleled beauties thanks to the affection and labour of the great leaders who would have plucked a star in the sky for the sake of the people.
