Among the members of the Paektusan Hero Youth Shock Brigade who volunteered to the construction of a new street to be erected in the Sopho area of Pyongyang City, there is Kang Kyong Son as an honourary member. All the members of shock brigade called her “our mother”.

Taking the members of the shock brigade who volunteered to the construction site of Jonwi Street true to the intention of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un admirable, Kang carried aiding materials to the construction site every day as their own mothers would do, did the spade work together with them and sang songs for them even though she was at an advanced age.

Kang nursed with the utmost care a member of shock brigade in the hospital and prepared birthday spreads for those marking their birthday.

When Kang marked her birthday, the members of shock brigade presented her with a rough sketch depicting Kang titled “Our Mother”.
