    It is a historic home where anti-Japanese war heroine Kim Jong Suk was born and spent her childhood.

    Kim Jong Suk was born into an extremely poor farmer’s family on December 24, 1917 in Osan dong, Hoeryong myon, Hoeryong County in North Hamgyong Province(today’s Tongmyong-dong, Hoeryong City in North Hamgyong Province).

    Hoeryong, which had been known as one of 6 famous towns in the north and a beautiful and favorable place to live from olden time, has a match of green hills, fertile plain and lucid river.

    Inside the home that has been arranged in an original state, a picture of Kim Jong Suk in her childhood is hung and there are furnishings such as 2 outdated cabinets, a brazier and several lamp stands.

    In the kitchen, tiny earthenware bowls, spoons and chopsticks and other bowls are on the rack and a water jar and jug and iron pots are on the floor.

    The home has also a storehouse for farming tools, an outhouse, a shallow well and a mill worked by treading, used by the her family members.

    Native home at Hoeryong where Kim Jong Suk was born is a historic place associated with the Paektusan heroine’s brilliant life and immortal feats shining with the national history and a place dear to the hearts of the Korean people.
