The US armed spy ship Pueblo which intruded into the territorial waters of the DPRK was seized by the KPA Navy on January 23, 1968. Since then, the confrontation between the DPRK and the US which had been serious for 11 months under the situation of a brink of war ended with a written apology of the US government and the exile of prisoners of war. Pueblo became a trophy of the DPRK. Both the enemies and the world watched with uneasiness this prisoner of war which is impossible to back forever.
Pueblo, the trophy caught on the wharf of Wonsan for scores of years, suddenly appeared on the Taedong River of Pyongyang, which focused the world’s attention.
It is a historic place where the US aggressor ship General Sherman was burnt and sunk in 1866. People sneered at Pueblo on the Taedong River by saying that it is a “tomb of the US floating on water” which has the monument to sinking General Sherman as a tombstone. Everyone knows the depth and the end of the US history of brutal and persistent aggression against the DPRK at this place. It became an impressive visiting place for foreigners.
Pueblo which is exhibited in the hall of captured weapons of the Victorious Fatherland Liberation War Museum tells a historical lesson that aggressors and provokers should remember forever.
