Far from developing, a country ruins if it neglects science and technology. Countries are now competing with one another intensively in science and technology and this is a stern reality of today.

For the DPRK that has to attain many goals including the activation of production and the implementation of plan for readjustment and reinforcement, it presents itself as a more important issue to develop science and technology of the country.

The Workers’ Party of Korea decided to hit the major targets in the fields of economy and culture by relying on science and technology at the 8^th Party Congress. The Party stressed to raise science and technology of the country to a higher level at the 6^th Plenary Meeting of the 8^th Party Central Committee.

At the plenary meeting, the WPK advanced concrete tasks and ways arising in attaching importance to and prioritizing scientific and technological development and actively introducing scientific and technological successes.

The WPK also stressed to enhance the role of scientific research sector in developing science and technology of the country.
