     The joint editorial of 2012 stated that the industrial revolution in the new century is a grand strategic line of socialist construction set forth by the Workers’ Party of Korea.

    The industrial revolution in the new century is a scientific and revolutionary policy clarified by leader Kim Jong Il on the basis of deep penetration into the present realities of the building of a powerful country in the DPRK and its inexhaustible potentials.

    It is the technical revolution to pave a broad avenue for the development of the socialist economy and create material wealth for eternal prosperity and happiness of the prosperities by building Korea’s economy into a knowledge-based economy.

     Thanks to the extraordinary foresightedness and energetic guidance of leader Kim Jong Il, vigorous efforts for putting the economy on a modern and scientific basis were made in the past period in the DPRK and thus many factories and enterprises have been fully furnished with the ultra-modern technologies and equipment.

    Especially, the torch of the industrial revolution in the new century was kindled last year, thus laying solid foundations for building the country into an economic giant of the 21^st century, the knowledge-based economy.

    Modern machine-building and chemical factories, stockbreeding and fish-farming bases and large-size fruit-farming bases, that are the prototypes of their kinds in the new century, were built in various parts of the country and many light-industry factories were modernized with the world-class ultra-modern technologies and means.

    Today the DPRK has entered the new and high stage of building a powerful country with the knowledge-based economy.

    The Korean people are now faced with the important tasks to accomplish the major tasks for a thriving nation by 2012 without fail true to the behests of leader Kim Jong Il.

    The joint editorial stressed that the strenuous efforts should be made to build a powerful country with the knowledge-based economy through the drive to break through the cutting edge by maintaining the industrial revolution in the new century as a strategic line of the socialist construction.

    To this end, the Korean people should, it stated, raise the overall technical equipment level of national economy onto a new high stage with the pioneering spirit and creativity displayed by the developers at the Ryonha General Machine Factory in making a rapid progress in producing the latest CNC machine tools and direct greater efforts to the development of core, basic technologies and technical engineering.

    Flame of the industrial revolution in new century will fiercely flare up in Korea as it is wisely led by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un and it has the excellent people who uphold their leader faithfully through generations.
