Women’s Right in the Fields of Education and Public Health in the DPRK

    Women in the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea exercise the rights in the fields of education and public health on equal term with men and they are guaranteed thoroughgoingly by the proper state policies for women and the laws on securing their rights.

    Like men, women in the DPRK are provided with complete rights to enter the schools at all levels, continue their studies at a higher level and be assigned after graduation.

    The state provides girl students with education suited to their constitutional features at the educational bodies and relevant facilities for them fully so as to protect and promote their health.

    Acts of not enlisting or limiting women as regards sex when enlisting the students at the universities are strictly regulated by law.

    Local people’s committees at all levels and relevant organs fully provide women with conditions for getting vocational technical education in accordance with the specific conditions in localities.

    Women in the DPRK, like man, are provided with equal rights to receive free medical treatment.

    All treatments and preventive medical services including health checkup, health consultation and vaccination are all free of charge.

    The state pays deep concern and care for the protection of women’s health. Special favors are bestowed on prolific mothers and their children.

    Public health organs are equipped with special medical facilities for women, positively protect their health and provide them with convenient medical treatment.
