     The joint editorial of 2012 stated that the Party, the army and the people in the DPRK should advance on the road of Songun as they did in the past.

    Songun is a powerful weapon for security of the country and nation and victory for a thriving nation and an eternal treasure to be handed down through generations by the descendents of President Kim Il Sung and the soldiers and followers of leader Kim Jong Il.

    With extraordinary ideological and theoretical wisdom, leader Kim Jong Il formulated the line of giving importance to rifle, the line of giving importance to military affairs, which was adhered to consistently by President Kim Il Sung as the Songun idea and integrated and systematized it in a scientific way. Especially, that he created the original mode of Songun politics which applied the Songun idea comprehensively in the practical struggle to defend and accomplish the cause of socialism is the everlasting great exploits performed by him in accomplishing the Korean people’s cause of independence.

    The Party and the people in the DPRK will hold in high esteem leader Kim Jong Il as the sun of Songun forever to hold fast to the banner of Songun however the situation changes.

    Victory in the socialist cause of Korea is firmly guaranteed by the Songun revolutionary leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

    Though leader Kim Jong Il passed away, the Korean people hold in high esteem the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, another distinguished Songun brilliant commander identical to Kim Jong Il in personality, virtue and traits.

    Respected Kim Jong Il possesses loyalty to leader Kim Jong Il on the highest level and embodies the courage, grit and gifted resources as his natural dispositions. He has enjoyed boundless admiration of the Party, the army and the people of Korea since long ago and wins the respect of the progressive people as he gained victory after victory in the showdown with US imperialists.

    The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, the supreme leader of the Party and the people of Korea and the supreme commander of the Korean People’s Army is the banner of victory and glory of Songun Korea.

    The Korean people could turn their greatest grief and sorrow over the loss to the nation into a hundred- and thousand-fold strength and courage to embark on the road of grand advance to glorify 2012, this year, as a year of proud victory when an era of prosperity is unfolding as they have Kim Jong Un.
