Korean Painting Evening Glow over Kangson

The Korean painting Evening Glow over Kangson reflects the dignified appearance of the DPRK’s Juche industry, the great spirit of Chollima era advancing dynamically while creating world-startling innovations and miracles and the revolutionary optimism of the Korean people.

It is a work that depicted Korea’s socialist construction in the fresh form of landscape painting instead of common methods.

In October 1972, leader Kim Jong Il said that the evening glow was very beautiful when he visited the plant a few days ago and recommended the artists to draw it.

Traditionally, artists had considered landscape as the pure natural sceneries like misty cliffs or hills and valleys with meandering streams. So depicting Evening Glow over Kangson in Korean painting means finding another new formative beauty fundamentally different from the traditional ones.

The Korean painting Evening Glow over Kangson was perfected in August 1973 under several occasions of guidance by leader Kim Jong Il.

Appreciating the painting, leader Kim Jong Il highly appraised by saying that the painting was wonderful and it was very good for the artists to have drawn freshly the landscape in single stroke technique of the Korean painting with colors of our country.

The Korean painting Evening Glow over Kangson won the highest prize at the international art exhibition.
