    Kim Il Sung Stadium is a meaningful place where President Kim Il Sung, who achieved a historic cause of national liberation, had the first emotion-packed meeting with the Korean people, and a glorious revolutionary relics shining with the august name of the President, the sun.

    Kim Il Sung Stadium was built and has been developed into the monumental edifice in the era of the Workers’ Party and the people’s palace of sports and culture under the wise leadership of the great leaders.

    On April 13, 2015, the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un came to the stadium and told to reconstruct it as required by the new century, saying that Kim Il Sung Stadium is the place that holds the august name of the President and is associated with the immortal leadership exploits of the great leaders.

    He indicated in detail on several occasions the orientation and ways for constructing the stadium to be dignified and suit to the modern aesthetic sense befitting the historic place, where President Kim Il Sung had made triumphant return speech, and formed powerful construction forces to complete the construction as early as possible on the highest level.

    Thanks to the energetic leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who solved all problems in the reconstruction while guiding lots of miniatures and designs even though he was busy with the ceaseless Songun-based revolutionary leadership, Kim Il Sung Stadium could be renovated as a monumental edifice in the era of the Workers’ Party.

    The stadium has 40 000 seats, football pitch covered with artificial turf, player’s entrance hall, the FIFA office, referee’s room, coach’s room, interview room, doping test room, clinic and other modern sports, cultural and welfare facilities and public service amenities. National political and cultural events and international and national sports tournaments can be held in the stadium and the working people, youth and students can hold colorful sports activities and lead cultural and emotional life to their hearts’ contents.

    Indeed, wonderfully reconstructed Kim Il Sung Stadium is another monumental edifice telling not only the wise leadership of the respected Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un who made immortal devotion and efforts to provide the sports personnel and the people with the best sports and cultural life conditions but the reality of the DPRK who is ushering in a new flowering time of civilization in the 21^st century.
