The slogan Let Us Live Our Own Way! Set forth by leader Kim Jong Il is a revolutionary slogan that reflects the conviction and will of our Party and people who will accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche, the cause of the Songun revolution under the banner of independence.
Chairman Kim Jong Il said.
“Our Party long ago put forward the strategic slogan, ‘Let us live our own way!’ This slogan has brought about a great turn in the ideological and mental traits of our people and in socialist construction. The slogan has today become an unshakable faith and will of our Party and people, and is demonstrating great vitality in all realms of social life.”
To live our own way means to think and act with our own spirit and solve all problems by ourselves in the interests of our revolution and people as required by the Juche idea.
This is steadfast conviction and will of our Party and people to thoroughly defend and apply the independent principle in the revolution and construction.
To thoroughly defend and apply the independent principle in the revolution and construction means to make the revolution and construction one’s own way in the interests of one’s revolution with one’s ideology and conviction according to the specific situation of one’s country under the banner of independence in any adversities.
The conviction and will of our Party and people to maintain the independent principle in the revolution and construction is the truth proved in the practice of the arduous and long Korean revolution.
Under the leadership of great Kim Il Sung, our people successfully accomplished the sacred cause of the country’s liberation smashing the Japanese imperialists who were armed to the teeth and could win victory in the Fatherland Liberation War smashing the US imperialists who boasted of “almighty” in the world. The secret of this is that we lived our own way, the Juche way, maintaining the independent principle.
Our Party and people flatly smashed the pressure and interference of the chauvinists about big powers and successfully accomplished the socialist revolution and construction with the independent conviction and indomitable will in firm unity behind the leader after the war and defended the red flag of Juche against the imperialist allied forces headed by the US imperialists who tried to remove our socialism in the 1990s.
The secret of all victories is that we regarded the independence as our life and struggled our own way to defend and realize it.
To live our own way is also the steadfast conviction and will of our Party and people to maintain the revolutionary principle in the building of socialist economy and provide the permanent foundation of the independent economy.
It is or Party’s intention and our goal to activate the overall economy prepared with blood and sweat and make the people get substantial benefit of our economic foundation in near future.
This can be realized only through the process of creating and changing everything our own way on the basis of strengthening our economic foundation.
The important guarantee for displaying the potentiality of our economic foundation by accelerating the building of the socialist economy is in maintaining the revolutionary principle in the economic construction.

We successfully made socialist industrialization in hort span of 14 years on debris after the war and put the independent defence capability on the highest phase. This is historical necessity produced by staunch conviction and will of our Party and people who maintained the revolutionary principle in the economic construction.

The excellent national identity of the Korean nation that was historically formed and developed has national wisdom, talent, strong spirit, patriotism and excellent national cultural tradition.
Our Party set it as an important policy to value and keep the excellent national traditions and implemented it.
Our Party gives importance to the Juche character and national identity. This aims at making the revolution and construction our own way according to our situation and national characteristics.
