Succeeded Soul of Patriotism

During the days of the difficult underground activities, Kim Jong Suk, the anti-Japanese heroine who regarded the Juche-oriented revolutionary outlook on the leader as her indomitable faith, served as a true soldier of General Kim Il Sung to firmly rally the broad masses of the people behind him and arouse them to the struggle for Korea’s liberation and thus performed feats to remain long in history.

In June, 1937 she met Ri Yong, the son of Ri Jun, a patriotic martyr while she was conducting the political activities in the area along the East Sea in order to implement the task given by the President. She led him to devote himself to the struggle for national liberation true to the patriotic soul of his father.

She selected a place for rendezvous as “Jokpyokgang” recreation ground, a scenic masterpiece on the shore off the coast of Chaho where revelers and tourists were crowded, and which was in the enemy-controlled area.

The underground workers accompanied by her were astonished with the fact that she appointed the place crowded with the Japs, the military police and the secret agents. But she said such circumstance was better for camouflage and set the table of food like a tourist to meet Ri Yong.

She said that the Korean people would remember forever patriotism and faithfulness of Ri Jun who died of indignation in Hague, crying out independence of Korea. She introduced herself to him that she came here from the forest of Mt. Paektu to convey it to him, upholding the instruction of General Kim Il Sung, the commander of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army and the Chairman of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland.

Ri Yong was so moved by the boundless benevolence and broad magnanimity of the General who extended a helping hand to him and the efforts of Kim Jong Suk who came to convey his intention, breaking through the strict cordon of Japanese imperialists.

She said that General Kim Il Sung unfolded a great plan of rallying all people loving the country and opposing the Japanese imperialists, irrespective of the differences in thought, ideal and the religious belief, under the banner of national liberation, believed and embraced all the people that had a national conscience and desired to oppose the Japanese imperialists, and led them to the road of patriotism, the road of struggle.

And she explained persuasively to him that Korea could be liberated and a new country built by the efforts of the Korean people themselves when the 20 million masses of the people, enterprisers or nationalists, irrespective of their religious belief, upheld the General and had one mind among them to turn out in the struggle for national liberation.

She acquainted herself with the work of Chaho Anti-Japanese Association organized by Ri Yong and told him the principles to be observed in the work with the people from different classes and strata who joined the association. And she taught him in detail to work skillfully in accordance with preparedness of the members of the association and wage a staunch anti-Japanese struggle in diverse forms and methods by utilizing all legal conditions to the maximum.

Before parting with her, Ri Yong said that the life of Korea was alive as there was General Kim Il Sung and he would, from this moment, be a soldier of the General whom he had admired to defend the soul of patriotism to the last and devote his all for the cause of national liberation.

Like this, Kim Jong Suk led, step by step, the younger generations of the patriotic martyrs to succeed the soul of patriotism to the last.
