November 16 is the Mother’s Day in the DPRK.
Everyone greeted the Mother’s Day in 2020 wearing mask because severe anti-epidemic war is going on to deal with the worldwide public health crisis. However, that could not hide the warm look from eyes of everyone who considers their mother. Every street, village and house was full of jubilation.
Some people were choosing flowers at flower shops. Young men and women were coming to shops looking for souvenirs for their mothers…
It was the day when they visited their mothers while reminding of their efforts to give them birth and bring them up.
Songs and programs were on radios and TVs to congratulate the mothers. Special articles occupied much space on Rodong Sinmun, the organ of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, several newspapers and publications to introduce the mothers. Art performances were staged in theatres celebrating the Mother’s Day and welfare service amenities including restaurants and beauty salons provided special services for the mothers.
All mothers of the country were grateful for the Party for taking measures to greet the Mother’s Day with significance in the same way as the previous years, when the state emergency anti-epidemic system became stricter to cope with COVID-19 damages expanding on a worldwide scale.
