    Socialist education is human remoulding, the undertaking to teach people to be independent and creative powerful social beings.

    President Kim Il Sung said.

    “Socialist education is an undertaking to teach people to be independent and creative social beings.”

    In order to be an independent and creative social being, it is necessary for man to have ideological consciousness of independence and creative ability. Ideological consciousness of independence and creative ability are not inherent. Ideological consciousness of independence and creative ability that enable man to be a powerful being are cultivated through education. Through education man acquires creative ability to cognize the world and him, is aware of his demand and interests and cultivates creative ability to understand and change the world.

    Process of providing people with ideological consciousness of independence and creative ability is the one accompanied by transformation of ideology and ability. As there is no vacancy in man’s thinking, so the process of arming people with ideological consciousness of independence is the process of imbuing them with revolutionary idea and rooting the outmoded ideas out of people’s mind. The process of cultivating people’s creative ability is also the process of changing their knowledge and ability into more profound and useful ones on a higher level, without being content with the already acquired scientific and technological knowledge and ability.

    However, no education of every society becomes an undertaking to teach people to be independent and creative social beings.

    Education in exploiter society where the masses of the people are the object of exploitation and domination is an undertaking to teach the people to be dependent beings obedient to exploitation and oppression. In particular, in capitalist society where the popular masses are treated as slaves of capital and tools of production, their demand to continuously develop themselves as the independent and creative beings cannot be realized and education reduces to the means that paralyzes the masses’ independent consciousness and deforms their creative ability. The undertaking to teach people to be independent and creative beings is realized only through the socialist education.

    Therefore, the socialist education becomes the undertaking of remoulding people to teach them to the independent and creative social beings, the powerful beings.
