In the long historic period from the ancient times to the middle and modern times, the Korean people created and developed the traditional Paji and jogori(trousers and jacket) suited to the national sentiment, constitutional peculiarities and mode of life and liked to wear them in wedding ceremony.
Paji(trousers) and jogori(jacket) and Turumagi(overcoat) are the traditional male wedding costumes.
Wedding jogori was made with silk, cotton and ramie cloth and its quality and color were different from one another according to season, age and social position.
White, jade green, gray, blue and brown are general colours, and it was decorated with diverse patterns so as to add national colour.
By attaching a white collar strip onto jogori, it was replaced with a new one when it was dirty. This reflects the Korean people’s way of life of keeping themselves tidy.
Paji also has a long history. Men put on Paji and jogori accorded with place, season and age when they had wedding ceremony.
Men loved to wear white Paji and jogori in ceremonies, on holidays and during indoor life. Elderly men wore magojaor dunggori(jacket or sleeveless jacket over upper garment) over jogori. Their colours were dignified and young looking ones like light green, brown and gray.
Turumagi is an outer garment lengthened below knees. jogori and turumagi changed and developed in certain relations.
