     Now the entire working people in the DPRK greet significantly May Day, the holiday of the working people of the whole world with worthwhile strive to usher in a great heyday of the Songun Korea.

    It is the tradition of our Republic that working class, peasantry and intellectuals commemorate May Day as the holiday of the working people all together since the liberation. Our people had been deprived of even elementary rights and freedom and suffered all sorts of humiliation and oppression under the Japanese severe colonial rule before the liberation. The WPK considers the people as masters of the country and has led the revolution and construction by dint of their united might. Thanks to the Party’s leadership, May Day is traditionalized as a significant holiday of the entire working people.

    The WPK regards workers, peasants and intellectuals as performers of the revolution, as masters of the building of a prosperous and powerful nation, and has aroused them so as to lead the revolution and construction dynamically. The emblem of WPK bears a sickle, a hammer and a writing-brush. It contains a lofty intention and will of our Party to rally the working people including working class, peasantry and intellectuals closely behind the Party, give full play to their revolutionary zeal and creative activity so as to advance the revolution and realize the cause of building of a prosperous and powerful nation with success.

    The history of our building of a prosperous and powerful nation that is adorned with epoch-making creations and changes records imperishable feats of our entire working people who have striven devotedly for the country and revolution, upholding the leadership of the Party and the leader.

    Our working people have persistently striven to build an independent and prosperous powerful nation on this land, firmly believing in only their leaders in the protracted period of time since the day of country’s liberation till now. Keeping in their minds the favor of President Kim Il Sung who brought them up as the masters of the country, our workers, peasants and intellectuals created a new history of the building of a prosperous and powerful nation on the ruins, and also they produced war supplies with a do-or-die spirit in those days of war, thus making a great contribution to the victory in the war. Thanks to indefatigable struggle of our heroic working class who produced trucks and tractors with bare hands and kindled the flame of Chollima leap forward, agricultural workers and intellectuals who gave a strong impetus to the socialist construction by means of increase in grain production and achievements of science and technology, a socialist power independent, self-sufficient and self-reliant could be built on this land. Every precious gain of our country and revolution is permeated with the precious blood and sweat of our entire working people

    who have shown unbounded self-sacrificing spirit and mass heroism for the prosperity of our country, our motherland, faithfully upholding the leadership of the Party and the leader.

    The revolutionary spirit and militant might of our working people have been fully demonstrated in the gigantic struggle to reach the peak of the building of a great prosperous powerful nation under the Songun leadership of the WPK.

    In 90s of the past century when our country and revolution faced grim trial, our working class, agricultural workers and intellectuals, upholding the Songun politics of the Party, had made imperishable miracles and exploits in defending socialist country and building a great prosperous powerful nation. Through the gigantic struggle to weather the storm of revolution following the leadership of the great leader Kim Jong Il, our working people have developed into indomitable fighters who have acquired revolutionary soldier’s spirit. And also they have won their fame as pioneers of the building of a great prosperous powerful nation and heroes of times in the new century. In the worst adversity of “Arduous march” and forced march, Kanggye spirit was created, a torch was raised at the Songjin Steel Works and a breakthrough for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation was made while great upswing taking place all over the country. A new turn was made in the technical modernization of the national economy and accomplishment of the Party’s policy on agricultural revolution. A lot of monumental creations of the Songun era were erected throughout the country, a fresh ground of cutting edge science and technology was broken and the launch of satellite “Kangmyongsong No.1” was made. All these amazing successes are inconceivable without the devoted efforts of our working class, agricultural workers, scientists and technicians in their struggle to materialize the Party’s plan for the building of a great prosperous powerful nation. The spirit of Taechon pulsating all over the country today is the striking demonstration of high level of revolutionary spirit of our working people who are making miracles, full of confidence and optimism without vacillation and hesitation in any adversity.

    Our people have performed truly startling miracles and feats in the process of materializing the plan for the building of a great prosperous powerful socialist nation, firmly uniting around the great leader. In these days the single-minded unity between the entire army and people with the leadership of the revolution as its core has been further consolidated than ever before and strong military deterrent has been provided to defeat any formidable enemy. All conditions for leaping higher and faster have been created and heyday of new prosperity is being ushered in on this land where the dawn has broken in the building of a great prosperous powerful nation.

    Our working people greeting May Day are full of determination to make a continuous leap forward in building a great prosperous powerful nation and bring glory to our country, our motherland as a socialist power of Juche, following the Songun politics of the great leader Kim Jong Il.

    The entire working people in our country will strive actively to turn the Songun Korea into a prosperous paradise for people, inheriting the proud tradition with which they have advanced the cause of building of a prosperous powerful nation victoriously having great leaders.
