Institutional Measures for Aged People in DPRK

Positive efforts has been made in the DPRK since long ago to provide the aged people with rights and interests and enable them to lead worthwhile life in better health both in mental and physical aspects.

In order to give unified guidance over the protection of the aged people, regarding it as an important social policy of the state, the central, provincial, city and county non-permanent committees for protecting the aged people were set up and the Central Committee of the Korean Union for Protecting the Aged People was founded as an organ capable of organizing and performing practical affairs of the committees.

The Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK held in April 2007 adopted the DPRK Law on Protecting the Aged People.

The aged people spend their remaining years in happiness in the DPRK where beautiful human relationships of respecting the aged people come into bloom.
