    Wangjaesan revolutionary site which is located in Wangjaesan-ri, Onsong County, North Hamgyong Province is the revolutionary site associated with the exploit of President Kim Il Sung who guided the Wangjaesan meeting and strived to implement the tasks put forward at the meeting.

    The President led a unit of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army and crossed the Tuman River to advance to the Onsong area in Korea on March 11, 1933 in order to spread and develop the armed struggle into the homeland while founding the guerilla bases in the broad region near the Tuman River and dynamically pushing ahead with the overall Korean revolution with them as the bases.

    The President held the Wangjaesan meeting on a ridge of Mt. Wangjae on that day after meeting the heads of the underground revolutionary organizations and the political workers who were dispatched and active in the region to acquaint himself with the homeland situation and the activities of the revolutionary organizations in details.

    In his speech “To Spread and Develop the Armed Struggle into the Homeland” made at the meeting, the President put forward a strategic policy to spread and develop the anti-Japanese armed struggle into the homeland under the banner of Juche idea.

    The policy to spread the armed struggle into the homeland was the Juche-oriented revolutionary one that enabled the Korean people to overthrow the Japanese imperialists with their own efforts and achieve the historic cause of national liberation.

    The President’s march into the Onsong area and the Wangjaesan meeting served as a prelude to the expansion and development of the anti-Japanese armed struggle into the homeland and marked a new milestone in the development of the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle in Korea.

    The President made more active struggle to spread and develop the armed struggle into the homeland after the meeting.

    He marched into the homeland on several occasions to hold the meetings and political short courses of the political workers and the heads of the underground revolutionary organizations so as to take the concrete measures for thoroughly implementing the policy of the Wangjaesan meeting and make sure that they lead the struggle purposefully.

    Along with this, he made sure that the Anti-Japanese People’s Revolutionary Army marched into the homeland more actively.

    The armed struggle was spread and developed into the homeland and the anti-Japanese mass struggle in the homeland was accelerated thanks to the wise leadership of the President, with the result that the anti-Japanese national liberation struggle with the armed struggle as the main was put on the road of rapid development.

    Chairman Kim Jong Il initiated to refurbish Mt. Wangjae associated with the immortal revolutionary exploits of the President into the large-scale revolutionary site. He personally climbed up Mt. Wangjae to expound the orientation and principles of the construction of the revolutionary site and the issues related to the education through the revolutionary site.

    As a result, the Wangjaesan revolutionary site could be built finely in October 1975 on the occasion of the 30th founding anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea thanks to the wise leadership of Chairman Kim Jong Il.

    It covers the Wangjaesan grand monument with the statue of Kim Il Sung, the Wangjaesan revolutionary museum and a place of the Wangjaesan meeting. 5-ri from the site along the ridge of the mountain toward northeast, there is Thamakgol place where the President crossed the Tuman River to step on the soil of the homeland on March 11, 1933.

    And it includes a monument erected to convey long the immortal exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il performed for the building of the Wangjaesan revolutionary site.

    Besides, it also preserves several places associated with the fighting exploits performed by the members of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army and the revolutionary organizations true to the policy put forward by the President at the Wangjaesan meeting.
