The 4th plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea set forth tasks for power and coal industrial sectors.
Electric power is a major source of power that keeps modern industry going. Electric power is needed everywhere and its demand is increasing in the national economy day by day.
The power industrial sector should raise its production to a high level while satisfactorily meeting the immediate demand for electric power. It should also reduce the loss of power in transmission, step up the building of new power stations and increase the capacity of generating electricity by diverse natural energy.
Coal, the food of Juche-oriented industry, should be produced at the maximum. Only then, can the production of Juche iron and fertilizer be increased and more material wealth created for prosperity and development of the country.
The coal industrial sector should give precedence to the prospecting and continue waging high-speed tunneling campaign to find more coalfields. It should also increase coal production by introducing advanced mining methods and machines and pay attention to helping the bituminous coal mines increase the production.
