Socialist transformation of private trade and industry
Transforming private trade and industry along socialist lines was solved in a unique way in the DPRK.
Preceding theorists insisted that capitalist enterprises should be nationalized in the stage of socialist revolution and bourgeois should be confiscated and liquidated. However, situation in the DPRK was different. Its capitalist trade and industry which had been small and fragmented were deteriorated seriously due to the war and most of the traders and manufacturers were supporting the policy of transforming private trade and industry along socialist lines.
Taking the situation into account, Kim Il Sung saw that private traders and manufacturers volunteered to work at various kinds of producers’ cooperative to become the socialist working people.
It was an original and correct way that enabled to transform the capitalist economic relations along socialist lines in a short period of time by closely combining the transformation of economic forms with the human remoulding.
Entrepreneurs, traders and rich farmers broke with their past position thanks to great love, trust and wise leadership of Kim Il Sung who embraced in a big socialist family the people who were doomed to being confiscated and liquidated.
In August 1958, old productive relations were transformed along socialist lines with success and the socialist system was established in the DPRK.
