Today the development of science and technology presents itself as a very important problem in achieving epochal progress in socialist construction. Development of science and technology should be ensured. Only then, is it possible to create miracles and innovations constantly in all parts of the country and accomplish brilliantly the cause of building a powerful socialist country.
In order to achieve epochal progress in socialist construction, it is important to step up economic construction. Its essential prerequisite is the high development of science and technology. Only when science and technology is developed, can a firm foundation be built to vitalize the overall national economy and enhance the people’s living standard by making efficient use of productive potentiality and internal resources and pushing forward technical innovation campaign. The development of science and technology ensures that production is normalized at a high level, modernization is pushed forward and localization of materials is actively promoted. Thus, the national economy can be made Juche-oriented, modern, IT-based and scientific, and economic power of the country can be displayed.
Promoting the development of science and technology also plays a very important role in solving the problem of strengthening the state defence capabilities, the important task arising in socialist construction.
High development of science and technology should be ensured. Only then, can the national defence industry be strengthened remarkably, thus fully making powerful military equipment and combat and technical equipment and making thoroughgoing preparations for all-people resistance.

When science and technology develops, it can promote development of all fields including education, public health, literature and the arts, the press, sports and so on, thus providing the people with conditions and environments to fully enjoy an affluent and civilized life.
