On October 21, 1997, leader Kim Jong Il came to a newly built cattle farm.

The leader was deeply interested in the cattle breeding. Seeing a breeder pouring assorted feed into feeder, the leader asked why the cattle are fed on dry fodder instead of the one mixed with water while personally pushing the feed near it. The breeder replied that dry feed is conducive to the increase of feed absorption. Listening to his answer, the leader highly appreciated that the modernized farm was something extraordinary, stressing the breeding methods in the farm were fresh ones.

The leader asked how the cattle shed were cleaned. An official in the farm answered that they were cleaned everyday but not with water as the developed countries did so.

Stressing that the stockbreeding sector should observe the hygienic requirements more strictly than others, the leader taught the ways to do so, adding that the breeding should be done in our own way as required by the hygienic demands, no matter what others might say, as the cattle were the ones to be butchered and eaten by us.

The teaching the leader gave on that day was his earnest request to create creative managing method of one’s own style as required by one’s own actual circumstances.
