It happened during the 50 000 ri-long visit to Russia made by leader Kim Jong Il in August, 2001.
He kept one thought in his mind even in the busy schedule of the visit to Russia.
One day he asked about the production of Kanggye Chicken Farm in Jagang Province while talking with a leading official of the Jagang Provincial Party Committee.
The official informed him of the pleasant news that the farm started to produce chicken and eggs although it was only 4 months since the early hatched chicks were transferred to fattening workshop, and as a result the storehouse was overfilled.
Leader Kim Jong Il smiled satisfactorily and then asked abruptly why they were not supplied to the people.
He kept silent for a while, having heard of the fact that the officials and employees of the farm would not supply them before leader Kim Jong Il saw chicken and eggs.
Some time later he said it was difficult to do so because he was in Russia, restraining his passion, and he continued to say as follows.

There were only a few days left before August 15(day of Korea’s liberation). You’d better supply the workers of the Province with chicken and eggs on the occasion of the day. They will like very much if chicken and eggs produced in the Kanggye Chicken Farm are supplied to them. …

6 days later on August 11, 2001 he flew back to Russia where leader Kim Jong Il stayed.
Leader Kim Jong Il told him as follows.
…You had much trouble for having been to home. You said that you gave the task to supply the working class with chicken and eggs in the province on the occasion of August 15. Well done! I feel as if I saw them pleased with the chicken and eggs. … He smiled so brightly that his fatigue was disappeared at a time.
Looking up to him, the official finally realized the warm love for the people shown by leader Kim Jong Il who strongly had sent him home.
To fully supply the people with chicken and eggs made him so happy and removed his fatigue. It was such a big and important affair that the c
