It was in October 2013 when the 21st Century Russian Orchestra visited the DPRK on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of establishing the diplomatic relation between the DPRK and Russia.
Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un paid attention to the problems in receiving orchestra and appreciated its performance at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre. After the performance he met important members of the orchestra and expressed his thanks for having pleased the Korean people with wonderful presentation.
When he appreciated a joint performance of Moranbong Band and the State Merited Chorus with members of the orchestra, the Supreme Leader again met its head and executive manager and expressed expectation and confidence that artists of the two countries would contribute to enriching cultural and art treasure house of the humankind by taking joint presentation and exchanging a lot.
The Russian artists were moved by the Supreme Leader who wasted his precious time to appreciate their performance and then saw the joint performance of Moranbong Band and the State Merited Chorus together with them. They said… The Supreme Leader is a genius of music. Today’s performance showed the spirit of the DPRK making rapid progress day by day and proved how a true art is.
The head of orchestra said… The Supreme Leader is friendly and generous person. The more often I meet him, the more I am attracted by him in spite of myself. It is the greatest honour and pride that we have made the first performance of a foreign art troupe for him. I will make a bigger contribution to the development of friendly relations between the two countries.
Asking to convey their thanks to him before leaving the DPRK, the head and other members of the orchestra sincerely wished the Supreme Leader a good health.
