It was on August day in 1999.

Chairman Kim Jong Il visited a fish farm. In front of a master plan of the farm, he listened to an official’s explanation on its size and production ability and on future plan for its development.

The official was pleased so much to have Kim Jong Il in the farm that he explained topographical characteristics of the farm and a peak behind it in addition to the master plan.

The peak was called Sonnyo (fairy) Peak.

Listening to him, Kim Jong Il looked for a while at the peak which had few trees and suddenly asked him why it was called Sonnyo Peak.

The official explained that it was because, in olden times, fairies used to come to the peak to have a bath in clear water of a fountain.

Kim Jong Il nodded his head.

Kim Jong Il asked everyone where fairies could hide to get undressed as the peak had few trees. Kim Jong Il laughed a hearty laugh.

Officials also laughed an open laugh in bewilderment, but immediately they were filled with remorse.

How can the people call a mountain the Sonnyo Peak as it has few trees?

Kim Jong Il intended to stress importance of planting trees with a humour.
