In his reminiscences With the Century, Vol. 4, President Kim Il Sung wrote that if anyone asked him when he was most happy and joyful, he would respond that joyful and happy events occurred every day in his life and every day and hour of his life was full of joy and happiness.

Kim Il Sung continued that it gave him particular pleasure or happiness to be among the people, discover amongst them excellent people who could set an example for the whole country and with whom he could debate state affairs, their living and their future, and it also gave him great happiness to be among the children who are called the flower buds of the country. He wrote that it was his lifelong view of happiness.
