One day in September 1973 Chairman Kim Jong Il, who was continuing a long journey of field guidance, stopped his car at the edge of a cotton field and said with pleasure that the field had good cotton flowers. At that time an official said to the Chairman regretfully that he wished the cotton flowers had been in fuller bloom.
The Chairman told the official that a cotton flower was beautiful not because it was graceful but because it did not boast itself even though it did good job for man.
The Chairman said that as a flower that does a good job for others is more beautiful than others, so a man who is selfless but honest can be respected and loved by others.
