June 26, 1950, the next day after a war broke out, was the day when Kim Il Sung was elected as the chairman of the DPRK Military Commission in accordance with the unanimous desire of the people and the officers and men of the People’s Army. Even that day, Kim Il Sung was busy with the strengthening and development of the Party in the wartime, saying that the war required to strengthen the Party organizationally and ideologically and to enhance militant function and role of the Party organizations more than before.
Considering that role of the Party, a political leadership organization, is definite in deciding fate of the war, Kim Il Sung saw that a session of the Political Committee of the Party Central Committee was held on June 27 and a letter of the Party Central Committee to the whole Party organizations and members was adopted in order to strengthen in every way the Party’s role of leadership over the front and the rear at that time.
Participants in the meeting, who received the letter of the Party Central Committee as soon as the war broke out, could not repress admiration for Kim Il Sung’s wise measure to strengthen and develop the WPK into a militant political organization that had a strong sense of organization and discipline and invincible power even under the stern trials of the war.
