Smell of Face Powder Hung in Anti-Japanese Battlefields

In the first period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary war, the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters hated cosmetics. The guerillas often found cosmetics among trophies they had captured, and they would throw them into a stream or trample on them.

When the Headquarters of the revolution located in Macun, Xiaowangqing, President Kim Il Sung told the guerillas that none of them must throw away cosmetics from then on as they had women not only among them but also in the guerrilla zone, adding that they can find no ones who are more wonderful than the women guerrillas and women’s association members. Words of Kim Il Sung, who intended to make the Korean women putting their heart and soul only into the revolution look more beautiful, touched their heartstrings.

Upholding Kim Il Sung’s intention, the guerillas took captured cosmetics to women in the guerilla zone and the latter were very pleased with them. Since then the smell of face powder began to hang in the air in the Xiaowangqing guerilla zone.
