The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un made a speech Let Us Hasten Final Victory through a Revolutionary Ideological Offensive at the Eighth Conference of Ideological Workers of the Workers’ Party of Korea in February 2014. In his speech Kim Jong Un noted that it can be said that the whole history of socialism of Korean style boils down to self-reliance. He said that, in the days of building socialism by their own efforts, the Party and the DPRK people underwent unprecedented ordeals and difficulties and they were ultimately loaded with all sorts of honours that the Korean nation could not enjoy in its history spanning thousands of years.
Kim Jong Un also said that self-reliance is the spirit of national self-sustenance and the spirit of going beyond the cutting edge to lead the whole world with their own efforts, resources and technology. He continued that it was necessary to steadily build on the fighting spirit with which they made tractors and electric locomotives from scratch and the spirit with which they conquered space with their own strength and own technology.
The revolutionary spirit of self-reliance has served as a weapon for the DPRK people’s struggle during the whole period of protracted Korean revolution. Historic formulation of the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance could be made only by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who penetrated deep into requirements of the era and the developing revolution and devoted his every thinking and labour so that they can keep self-reliance in their minds as an eternal treasured sword for prosperity.
