Mangyongdae is the place where President Kim Il Sung was born.

Mangyongdae means that you have a bird’s eye view of 10 000 sceneries of the area covering about 40kms when you climb Mangyong Hill on the bank of the Taedong River.

Later, Mangyongdae became a geographical name of the place covering not only Mangyong Hill but its surroundings.

From olden times, Mangyongdae, a well-known scenic spot, and its surroundings were also called Hwachon (a village of flowers) as it was filled with fragrance from various flowers including azalea and apricot blossoms.

10 000 sceneries they enjoyed in the area which centres on Mangyongdae were regarded with pride by the Korean people as “Ten sceneries of Hwachon”.

As it is the native place of President Kim Il Sung, beautiful Mangyongdae becomes a sacred place of the revolution and a place dear to heart of the Korean people and the world progressives.
