It was when the first democratic election was held in Korea.
With the approach of the historic election, nomination of candidate for provincial, city and county people’s committee membership was made.
At that time, President Kim Il Sung was nominated as a candidate member of the South Phyongan Provincial People’s Committee at a mass meeting held in (then) Samdung Sub-county, Kangdong County. Two delegates went to Pyongyang in order to inform him of it.
Attracted by Kim Il Sung’s benign personality, one of the delegates told
Kim Il Sung said that he was grateful to the old folks as he ought to visit them first, but they said that they would come to Pyongyang to visit him. He said that he would meet them for sure though he was busy.
The next day over 10 people including old folks, workers, peasants and students came to Kim Il Sung on behalf of those in the sub-county.
Kim Il Sung said that he would work devotedly with their trust and expectation kept in his mind.
Trust in and respect of entire people for Kim Il Sung was demonstrated in the first democratic election.
