Juche

    In the preface of the socialist constitution of the DPRK that was newly amended and supplemented at the historic 1^st session of the 10^th Supreme People’s Assembly held on September 5, 1998, it legally formulated upholding President Kim Il Sung as the eternal President of the DPRK, and defending, inheriting and developing the idea and exploits of the President to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche to the last.

    This is permeated with peerless greatness of Chairman Kim Jong Il who is possessed of the noblest moral obligation towards the leader.

    One day over ten years ago Kim Jong Il gave significant instructions to the officials concerned to hold the President as the eternal President of the DPRK.

    Recollecting with deep impression the exploits of the President who consolidated the DPRK into the powerful and dignified country as today and made the Koreans the most honorable, proud and happy people, Kim Jong Il said that it is important to hand down to posterity and add luster forever to the pride of having made the revolution, upholding Kim Il Sung and this is the duty of the Party and the people to fulfil for the history and the posterity.

    He continued that Kim Il Sung was the first President of the Republic whom all the Korean people acclaimed in accordance with their unanimous opinion and with their absolute support, the President of the DPRK is precisely Kim Il Sung. And he said that he was to hold the President forever as before and add luster to Kim Il Sung as the only President of the DPRK in history forever.

    This was indeed the instruction filled with his will to make Kim Il Sung live alive in the hearts of the Korean people and the world progressives with the friendly august name of President Kim Il Sung and his high reputation and make the DPRK the country brilliant with the august name of the President.

    Thanks to Kim Jong Il’s faith and will, the 1^st Session of the 10^th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK newly amended and supplemented the socialist constitution of the DPRK to solemnly declare in its preface to the world that Kim Il Sung is the eternal President of the DPRK.

    This reflected the noble sense of moral obligation of Kim Jong Il to hold Kim Il Sung forever with the title of the President of the DPRK who rendered huge services to the country, the people and the cause of humanity for independence, and the firm faith and will of the Party, the state, the army and the people to glorify the DPRK as the eternal state of the President.
