One day in August 1951, President Kim Il Sung met a party and government delegation from a socialist country that was to attend the event celebrating the 6th anniversary of liberation.
The President’s office was too humble.
There was no fan even it was sultry in August. A desk was an ordinary one and a field telephone was on it, but there wasn’t even a chair for a foreign guest.
When unreserved atmosphere was created while talking, the foreign guests told the President their feeling frankly.
The head of the delegation told the President that only the office of the Supreme Commander should be well furnished although it was hard time of war.
The President laughed a broad laugh and said that, of course, the Supreme Commander’s office could be well furnished, but the people were fighting in the war where there was no distinction between the front and the rear and, therefore, his office was too good for him at the thought that the people were sacrificing their lives to fight.
The foreign guests were deeply impressed by the noble personality of the President who spared nothing for the people and soldiers but refused everything for himself.
