In June 1992 President Kim Il Sung met the chairman of the Workers’ Communist Party of Sweden on his visit to the DPRK.
The chairman asked the President to explain the practical ways for restoring the socialist movement on a worldwide scale.
The President said that, in view of the historical lessons of the socialist movement, it was of great importance to firmly adhere to independence in the struggle for socialism and each party in every country must advance confidently along the road of socialism under the unfurled banner of independence to meet the demands of the present era.
The President continued that the history Workers’ Party of Korea spanning over 50 years showed that adherence to independence in Party activities would bring about successes in socialist construction.
