In the present world, not few countries allow their national character to be totally trampled down and many people do not know even the word national tradition as they neglect and discard folklore.
However, national tradition is now further flourishing day by day in the DPRK.
Raising the national pride and self-confidence, the ecstasy and romance among the people of the country, folk games such as Grand Bull Prize National Ssirum(Korean wrestling) Contest, archery, tug of war, swinging, seesawing, ssirum, Janggi (Korean chess), yut-game, kite-flying are played widely every year in the DPRK.
It is ascribed to the immortal exploits of Chairman Kim Jong Il who devoted his all to the defending and enriching of the national tradition.
The Chairman said that from olden times the Korean people have been known widely as they are diligent, honest, strong in sense of justice, brave, faithful and well-mannered. He said that it is of an important significance in maintaining the national character to inherit and develop the national tradition as our people’s national tradition is based on its character.
The Chairman visited many cultural relics of long history including Simwon Temple, Anbul Temple, Jonggwang Temple, Sogwang Temple, Kaesim Temple and Woljong Temple in order to add more brilliance to excellent tradition of the Korean nation.
Leadership of the Chairman who cherished ardent love for the country and nation and added brilliance to the national tradition of the Korean people makes it flourish day by day.
